I get Panforte di Siena every year for Christmas, and also during the year if I can. Last year I tried this product from Nannini and it was very good - what you would expect of traditional panforte. So this year I ordered 3 large panfortes, the high point of my Christmas fare. But this year the quality has fallen from five stars to two: rather than being cake of densely-packed dried fruit, it is mostly a friable mass of (apparently) cane sugar (it also has the color and taste of cane sugar). In short, it is hardly the same product.

This although is an after or pre dinner nibble stays with me on my travels as I cut it into fingers and take with me and it is so much more nicer than some of the expensive no where near as good quality oat/nut/choc bars from high street coffee shops - Panforti is the way to go
