What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I will be using this again at the start of the new school year, emphasising pronouncing names correctly, helping children understand their own identity and celebrating everyone in their classes identity. I will also be using the ";What I want my teacher t
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Children seem to become a more cohesive unit, they look out for each other and stood up for things that they thought were wrong.
This kit was amazing. It really challenged my thinking alongside my students. It opened our eyes to how we act and how our actions, words and attitudes can affect others.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? To be honest - we didn't get this far with the kit but I would like to use it again in 2020 to do something like this. I felt that some of the stuff was a little bit ";too young"; for the Year 9s BUT I used the concepts of the kit.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I cannot answer this honestly because I did not use it totally in the way that was intended.
This kit was aimed at Year 7-8 and I used parts of it with a Year 9 class. I did not use the whole kit as I was running out of time with other topics and it seemed like something that I would use more at the start of the year with a class. I initially got the kit to use with some of our learners who struggle with the level in a Year 9 classroom but I immediately saw that it really needed to be applied to the whole class.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Realisation that the world is affected by a colonised perspective and regarded as ";normalised bullyism";
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It created ongoing discussion and strong reflective research amongst students to gain a greater self understanding.
An excellent discussion tool to start the vital conversation around reflection, understanding, and seeing how racism and white privilege affects the lives of indigenous people on a daily and recurring basis. This situation did not go down well at all with senior management.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I think it has created an awareness of empathy and of how others see the world.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I appreciated the 'What I wish my teacher knew' activity and will try and do that a few times a year, to just check in with where my class is as a group and as individuals. I think doing it multiple times might see me learning more and more about my stude
Really great discussions and learning for my class and myself to get into some nitty gritty conversations. I will definitely be using some of the activities for the start of next year as we get to know each other in a new class setting and to establish a solid classroom culture that fits my new class of 2020. It was interesting that my class knew all about stereotypes even if they hadn't had a name for them.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan has complemented what I already teach my students about inclusion, respect, values, differences and co-operation. By asking the students to actively talk about each and every issue raised in the booklet we have been more inclusive and more
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The awareness and understanding of the different cultures and the needs and expectations of each of these has been apparent in the way the students understand each other. I do not tolerate racism of any kind and this kit reinforced that at every level. Th
This year I have spent a lot of time talking through with my year 7's the importance of inclusivity, respect and awareness of each other, our cultures, differences etc. This kit brought that all together for us and provided so many opportunities to encourage further development within these issues. My students are developing their understanding of the world of people around them through concrete activities. We have thoroughly enjoyed our kits this year.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The compliments activity, focusing on positive characteristics of your classmates, that did not draw from physical attributes, worked to get students thinking beyond the surface. The circles generated discussion around those who we consider important/ rel
The rich learning, discussion and reflection generated within my year 8 classroom as we progressed through the plan was fantastic. It complimented progress we had made with emotional literacy over the first half of the year and gave us opportunities to extend this by exploring our perceptions and different perspectives. I will be reusing much of this resource in the new year!

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Improved social aptitude and awareness of others.
It's an excellent kit, that we'll be introducing earlier on in the year next year to provoke even richer outlays from the initial thinking.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We talked a lot about how different people have been treated differently in history, not just in NZ but the world. Focusing on Maori and Pasifika racism in history, but then how ingrained it is in what we do every day. We listened to people on radio and s
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Our class were not so tolerant towards each other, but this brought them together somewhat. They still have their arguments/differences, but this is based on what they do - not who they are now.
The resources were awesome! I was able to link it in with our inquiry on 'New Zealand', as we studied an A-Z type project about different things in NZ.
