What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We have become more aware of the language we use and how we treat each other, especially those that are different from us.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? - We are more encouraging of each other, we read about historical events in our countries history - we have talked about the Spring boks tour, apartheid and our own responses to this life changing event. We have also learnt about The Black Panthers and Th
This was an incredibly challenging kit for both the students and myself, it caused us to reflect on actually how complacent of racism we have become, our own language, jokes, snide comments and what we thought was acceptable.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I think it has increased awareness and thinking around other people and the challenges they face.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? For some students it was exactly what they needed. A lot of the students were already very well rounded. The environment was enhanced by using this kit.
It was excellent. Very thought provoking for the students.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We will definitely use ideas from this at the start of the school year for learning about identity. The action plan had a positive impact on the class. We learnt about the importance of pronouncing each other’s names correctly. We understand everyone in o
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It created a more positive environment, we learnt about each other, there was greater respect and children’s self esteem grew from the compliments. It created a safe environment to talk about difficult issues. We learnt new things about each other. We are
Thanks School Kit, we’ve enjoyed this kit. There was lots of interesting discussion. We learnt new things about each other and each other’s cultures. We loved the ‘What I wish my teacher knew.’ We will definitely do this next year. The Pictionary was great. I adapted it to the ages of my class. We had a great discussion about gender stereotypes. The class poem was amazing, the children came up with great ideas and the children loved what was said about them. A very positive experience. (Shame I forgot the ‘a or an!’ Good discussion around Checking our work!!!) I did this kit with Years 3 and 4.

This time my release teacher took the kit with the children and was linked into our inquiry. Many questions were shared along with many ways which we could solve.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Powerful discussions. Students acknowledged many stereotypes were almost family cultures.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Hopefully an increased tolerance, certainly an increased kindness!
This became quite emotional for some as we explored the people in our inner circles. It was really important for the teachers to model anything other than the nuclear family in order for students to feel it was okay for their circles to look different from another persons. Wonderful and meaningful discussions!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The children are more resilience, respect others and keen to learn other cultures. The children learned to be inclusive not in class but outside when they are playing games. They understand better about other cultures and work collaboratively.

Fantastic resource. As a teacher, my pedagogy has changed the way I select resources and teach. I have 9 different cultural groups in my class and getting through ";NOT IN MY BOOK"; activities made me rethink.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Rather than 'change the environment in your classroom' the kit added to what is already in place. The 'I wish my Teacher Knew' activity was particularly good in that I found out a couple of really important details about 2 students, that affected their le
I found the kit was not as useful for my students as previous kits from School-Kit. The activities like the 'draw a ..... person' were beyond my students (Y3, the bottom end of the appropriate age range). I found an activity for students to complete about themselves that started discussions. On the other side of the coin it was really beneficial for me professionally.
