What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Using the Pictionary sale game reinforced that as New Zealanders we have many different roles and responsibilities and that we cannot make assumptions about people based on their appearances.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It gave us an avenue of thinking to go back to and reflect on attitudes. It allowed for broader thinking around many aspects of bias, racism etc.

“This kit gave my year 7/8 students a way to process the trauma, shock and distress that came from the shootings in Christchurch. It was a great way to question their own beliefs and how we can support themselves and others. Allowed a safe way to explore tricky and controversial subjects”

“This kit had some good resources but was a little vague. I appreciated the teacher reflection journal as it was thought provoking and made me more aware of stereotypes. To be more successful I needed some clear direction with lesson plans. I also think a lot of this content was a bit over the heads of my learners.”
