How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? The charging station was a great visual representation and something that the children could understand well.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The daily check in was a great activity. This helped to get children communicating. Not only with the teacher but with each other too.

“Sorry for not getting this in earlier - I struggled to get it all complete with the Covid lockdown period and having to fit so much in when we returned back to school. This kit provided 'insight' into the children that I perhaps would not of seen had I not used it. It helped me to see that some children (which I had perceived to have huge self-confidence), may have been shielding how they really feel. It helped me to recognise those that more vulnerable and in need of a self-confidence boost and they weren't the children that I was expecting! The charging station was a great visual and the children enjoyed using this. When it was displayed in the classroom it helped to keep us all thinking and discussing the unit! As I teach Year 4, there were some things that I needed to adjust slightly to the age of the children. It would be great to have similar kits for younger children. But overall a great kit. I think it would be a great one to use at the start of the year.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Especially for girls with body confidence issues this proved very important for them and I believe it increased their self confidence.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? It’s a very discussion based unit and I feel it really helped develop relationships and trust between myself and my students.

“I used this school kit this term for our inquiry topic ‘Hauora’. This linked beautifully into our topic which talked about all aspects of well-being. The learning and discussions we had around body image, emotions and how we can use self help tools/others to support our own well-being was very beneficial and relevant to my students. The practicability and uses of the displays made well-being a constant reminder in my classroom and is something we will be using beyond this kit and for the rest of the year.”

I teach year 8, overall the kit was helpful but I wondered for our older learners if there could be a section to delve deeper into self confidence and self belief. How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? It has helped students to develop confidence, however, some of the learning components wasn't relevant for my age group due to the maturity of my students. I would recommend the kit for yr 7&;8 students.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? I have noted growth across my whole class self confidence since using this kit, but have definitely noted more of a change in one of my students in particular. They have become more confident in expressing how they are feeling instead of shutting down.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? The charging station has been amazing. Especially the red slip. It has helped me develop my own teaching practices, as sometimes the tamariki noted they became frustrated when they did not understand the learning

“This kit was amazing for my tamariki. We have had a massive push on mindfulness and resilience so this kit suited us perfectly. It has continued to be well utilised, with the students often using the self charging station.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? Clear and concise language in student speak for the resources. Bright and engaging and very user friendly.

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? Students were able to choose any time they needed for 1-1 conversations or discuss with their peers first if uncomfortable. This was rare though.

“This kit ticked the boxes for the students in my class and came at the right time. Easy, understandable and very used friendly the kit was great and allowed students to converse easily about the aims and raide awareness of self confidence due largely to the fabulous colourful and trendy resources supplied. Well done Team!”

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? This kit tied in beautifully with our seuality education learning this term. This kit supported the self esteem issues that is in their everyday lives.

“A really well thought out kit with relevant mental health and haoura links for my intermediate class. This kit gave the tamariki opportunities to work on self reflection, resilience and discuss moments that could support their ever evolving knowledge of themselves.”

How have the components within the kit helped develop your student self-confidence? I felt the appearance ideals component really helped my students to understand that these are placed upon us by society and how we really need to be aware of this in our lives. The self respect token also led to interesting discussion around others

How have the components of the kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? I already teach a lot on self talk and care. It opened up a little discussion on these areas. Peer problems seem to be prevalent at the moment and I wonder if this could be incorporated into the kit somehow as a lot of the self esteem issues

“I really loved this kit and found it so helpful for my Y5/6 class. It was difficult to maintain flow due to lockdown but I was able to post videos and some tasks via online learning. I loved the cards students selected but noticed the red cards were never chosen although I know some kids were struggling with big issues. The appearance ideals section led to incredible discussion in my class and is referred to regularly”
