How did you find the open format of this kit? My class liked the kit.There were lots of opportunities to find out more if you had a older/more able group. Loved the mat with the 50 keywords + the ? dice. My students enjoyed the open ended opportunities that the cards 'thing/that/for' cards encouraged

“I found the kit was more at the Y3 end of Y1-3. I had to do my own thing with a farm theme. I was excited by the idea of going to a dairy farm as an ignite then dipping into it. The trip didn't happen despite everyones best efforts and the review is required way before I've had a chance to use it complete due to the lockdown. I had NE so no part of the kit was accessible to them with out direct teacher input which was a shame. it was so different to the ice cream kit I'd had before which was great to use with a year 1 class. I have no photos as yet as I'm just starting, in the middle of my work around what I am doing with this kit. I really needed the rest of this term before doing a review.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We enjoyed the 100 greens art lesson with mixing colours. Children also really enjoyed the science experiment linking to why farmers plant trees next to water ways.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There were many opportunities for learning in technology in particular Minecraft and Stop Motion Animation. We tried to incorporate farming into Mathematics especially geometry, coordinates and perimeters. We also made dioramas in response to the stories.

Design and technology to make a farm (think+that+for cards = great!), which leads into shelters for animals, food from the farm to your table. Story telling cards to enhance imagination and creativity. Supporting website offers great extra resources!

“We have not been able to use the kit at all because of the Covid 19 situation and lockdown. We were about to start on it and incorporate it into our Term plan and then everything changed. However, I can see how useful and engaging this topic is for the children. Some of our students come from rural backgrounds, and this is a great tool to delve deeper into the farming world as it is what some experience everyday and what most see on their way to school. It also brings an appreciation of how things work and how food gets from the farm to the our tables.”

“An overview and clear understanding of the purpose of each component in the kit would have been helpful in understanding and developing this unit of study. We as a class have enjoyed the path we took and there has been interest and full involvement. I think we could have delved deeper for greater understanding and knowledge with some suggestions about how to use the kit components to their full potential or purpose. The videos didnt show enough and without a commentary to go with them it made it difficult to understand what was happening. We loved the shades of green. This had a lot of potential to take it where you wanted. It was a clear and purposeful task. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to use this kit. I dont believe I have tapped into it's full potential however. We are working on it at the moment so we may still discover more yet as we experiment with the equipment.”
