How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
I love the physical nature of this. I think some of the magic would be lost in this if it was a digital version.
“Thanks for the great kit. Our kids love the opportunity to exchange writing with someone other than their own school. This kit was really challenging this year in the writing content - which is good for the children but we would have loved longer to complete it or a couple of weeks prior to the kit being sent to really sink our teeth into the requirements and how long it would take for our kids.”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
Yes, that was very cool that we got the writing from the same class we sent our writing to. kind of make you feel more connected to that class.
Thank you School kit- please keep up the Fabulous work.
“I just love your kits- the students are engaged and enthusiastic. It is great to feel like the whole country is working on a collaborative project. There is so much learning that goes beyond the writing like geography, place names and just general curiosity.”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
They loved reading what someone else had written, and many now know the meanings of new words, eg flogging, mugger, walking the plank, criminal... Lots of fun
“My class enjoyed the colour poem writing, which we published as a class, and read to junior classes.
They found the anagram poems more difficult, and we will work further on learning what a metaphor is. They felt success once theirs was written (and relief?!)”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
The other class did not include all their postcards (12 missing). Although I did contact them and they are going to send them. Their postcards were not done using the items in the tin, which was disappointing.
“Writing activities were good, but would like to see more creative writing rather than just making words.”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
They were very excited. We thought Marlborough School would be from Marlborough - not Auckland! We didn't know we were supposed to send the colour poem as well - ours is in the school foyer on display. So we felt really stink that they sent us theirs but
“Students were very excited about the tin and wrote some great adjectives. They found the poem about their item hard because it was a list of random words that didn't make sense, and the anagram didn't fit the poem - this confused them.”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
They loved getting the mail and were interested in reading what other children had written
“They loved putting the pieces together to see the large picture The items in a tin were a real hit, the visuals made their writing and adjectives quite amazing and were a great introduction to adjectives. Personally, I as the teacher, found the download instructions quite confusing and wondered if I had done it correctly and if I should have included anything else in the package.”
How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience?
Swapping was great. My class was really excited to see the work of the other class. I am hoping that it will help them see the quality and effort other students put into their work - my class find it quite tricky to focus, especially with the events in Ch
“The resources for this kit were excellent. I knew I would be teaching a Year 3/4 class so was a suitable activity. However, the class I have is VERY low with lots of special needs students, so they did find it quite tricky. Therefore, my main concern is for the recipient and how they will perceive the work.”
