How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? This kit tested me in some areas, but I enjoyed learning new things. Our whole syndicate did it so we could all feed off each other. We got makey makey, scratch and all sorts going on.

“This kind of activity is sort of new to me, but a lady in my syndicate was all over it. This helped immensely and it turned out to be a very good school kit. I like the coding 'escape room' type activities. Also the history and hegemony of how society saw men and woman activities. A good question would be 'how did Jean Batten's latter years end?' She seemed to have gone into 'hiding' and was not the celebrity New Zealand would of liked.”

“This is a beautifully presented kit based on a very cool idea. It was a bit easy for my Year 8 class, but they still enjoyed learning about the different types of codes and doing the practical activities like the buzz planes.”

We have 1 child in the class who recently won a hang rats gliding competition where he built a hanger rat out of balsa wood and took out the junior record hang time. He has also increased his interest in model air planes. So that was pretty exciting.

How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? It was originally a little difficult to figure out the flow of activities, however once we dove in it just worked, so in that way it has assisted with building our confidence.

“Thanks for another great kit guys. Initiated some great discussion and collaborative learning for our students. Many had a vague knowledge of Jean Batten, but this stretched their thinking and has since helped our inquiry learning. We completed our challenge in one day. It helped to build collaboration and competitive skills. Each set of clues and the code cracking challenges were engaging and fun.
