In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Great way to link to other areas i.e writing. We did a great instructional piece of writing about how to plant our little garden. It was awesome to link lots of reading stories and activities to 'gardening' &; 'vegetables'.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It was a great kit developing the understanding of growing your own vegetables and easy this can be. This kit had great links to cross-curricular learning for the term.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? A great way to talk about new vegetables that some of the children hadn't heard of before.

“Great School Kit. Very Engaging for the children. All were involved and loved having their own little garden to look after. They loved solving the secret code and creating their own. Great resources on the School Kit website of books, videos, etc that linked perfectly to the unit.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Do more of the follow up activites. SOme of the learning activities and 'code' stuff a little beyond our N/E chidlrne.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We learnt lots of new vegetables we were unaware of. Didn't try new veggies as were still growing.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Activities were easy to integrate in particular Maths, Writing and Inquiry.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? She said she would love to have the opportunity to use the kit again next year and wanted to try and involve whanau more in the learning process at school and home.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children I have spoken to have been able to explain why it is important to grow vegetables and how eating them, improves their health. They also said how much fun it was to grow your own.

I passed the kit on to another teacher in the hope they would run with it. The comments in this review are from my discussions with her. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have gone on to learn about habitats this term, so we have been able to make links with food. We have also made links back to what plants need to survive and relate that to what people and animals need.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? By talking about all the vegetables fruit and flowers it made my class more aware of what other children eat. Answering the challenge by trying new things, like radishes, was a great opportunity to widen the variety of healthy foods we eat.

“It was a great kit. The children loved planting their seeds. They really enjoyed the letter box and checking it each day to see what we had been sent (all the coded messages and seedlings etc arrived in class this way). All the resources were great and could be easily used by my year one class, though we did do a simplified version of the membership form as we have beginner readers and writers. The planting tray was great to have in the kit, and I really like it that it was recyclable. from talking to other teachers at my school who also did this kit, it seemed like there were many different ways that children and classrooms were engaging with the activities and messages coming through. A really versatile kit. Thank you.”

“The children were very stimulated by the hands-on experience of doing the planting. With 5 year olds, the planting was the key aspect of this project. We didn't use any of the extra material - becoming members, etc. that was all too complicated and didn't fit with all the other things that were already planned in our busy curriculum”
