“My class and I loved this kit. It was set up perfectly for a junior classroom. From the very beginning it engaged and excited my students. The main focus was centred around healthy eating and trying new food. It was great to learn and taste vegetables we’d never tried before. We have enjoyed learning about our growing plants, talking about sustainability and looking at the life cycle of plants. The children in my class were also able to independently continue their exploration through PLAY based learning. This kit was a massive hit!”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We really enjoyed the letter writing and filling out the form. The secret messages were also favourites. We were able to bring in measurement It tied in beautifully with out science living world topic.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It was a great writing opportunity for my children! This also led into some visual art.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Possibly providing a small watering can or space can enhance the programme more. Possibly a few more plants to make a full class size (30).

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children can now list some healthy vegetables and were beginning to identify these in their lunchboxes or that they eat at home.

Plenty of opportunity as it is spring time now, the timing was great, we are able to actually eat our kai, plant more and go into our larger school garden. “This was an exceptional resource, the biodegradable aspect of the containers, the ease of use with the jiffys and seed sheets, the size and containers for the pots were helpful, all easy and useful for Level 0-1 children. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This was an easy kit to integrate, we used a lot of the vegetables to write about - vegetables they liked and didn't like. For maths, we did some sorting, addition and subtraction.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My class is now involved with the school garden, and they can't wait to share what they are growing with the rest of the school

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children had discussions and became more aware of what was in their lunchboxes. A few of the children also decided that they needed to be making their own lunches, so they could choose healthy things to be putting in their lunches.
