How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to use this kit as part of our wider NPDL inquiry unit for improving our school environment.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It has been a great launch and a unit that allows you to hang lots of other learning opportunities
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about healthy eating and we have planted the seeds in our gardens. But being younger children, I think the bigger concept of healthy eating can get lost.
The little seeds were amazing and the kids loved cracking the codes. I would have liked to have seen more of a writing component. I spent some time trying to figure out what I was meant to do and how to bring in other elements. The links to books and videos were amazing and I was able to really use these.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We wrote about our plants. We read books or had books read to us about planting.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? When the plants have fully grown, I am looking forward to having a garden to table type experience with the children.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We haven't actually eaten anything from the seeds as yet as they have not had enough time to grow, but the chn have enjoyed planting them and we picked some other salad ingredients from our garden and chopped them up for a salad. The children enjoyed the
Kia Ora for the box of planting goodies we recieved. My children love hands on experiences and this was exceptional. They have enjoyed the experience of planting our garden and are very much looking forward to eating the fruits of their labour! Thank you New World.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I have been working on a Science unit about our Solar System - the kit was perfect for discussing how Earth is unique because of the plants that grow here, creating the oxygen rich atmosphere that allowed for animals to evolve and thrive. We had the pract
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we will focus more on life is here on Earth, thanks for the inspiration!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Kids are always keener to try food they have been part of preparing, and the process of seeing how seeds germinate then grow to provide us with food to eat is very engaging.
Thanks so much for this wonderful kit, which was rich in hands on learning experiences.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We included learning in our writing and shared reading time, for example we read Jack and The Beanstalk together and completed writing activities around this as well as in our inquiry time where we planted the seeds.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It will be interesting to see our learners response when the seeds grow and we can share the vegetables as some learners hadn't tried different vegetables so this is an opportunity for them to try them from seeds they have grown.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was interesting to talk about the different vegetables and see what students like to eat, we do brain food during the morning block and encourage eating of fruit and vegetables and I see students are bringing vegetables now.
In the Junior Hub our inquiry for Term 3 is about 'Taking Care of the Environment' and how we can be kaitiaki of the environment. The Little Garden Kit fitted perfectly as one of the vision areas our students wanted to explore was to plant more vegetables in our school garden. Our learners were hooked from the start when the applied to be part of the secret club and they loved to receive the codes and took the time to complete them. Planting of the seeds and watching them grow was a real hands on highlight and we have now transferred them into our school garden which the students were excited about!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used it across many areas of learning! Reading, writing, environmental education/science etc. I also used it with my Enviro group.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The life cycle of plants, environmental concepts.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The initial discussion and videos at the start were great, but they kind of lost the awareness of the healthy eating aspect as the weeks went on. The code crackers were a good little reminder but potentially not that much. They still loved it though!
My class were absolutely enthralled by the kit! We were amazed by the amount of resources we got in the kit. Two other Homebases (classes) also ordered the kit after seeing mine, and we had some awesome learning that came from the kit. It was so fantastic. 'I liked the Little Garden League Characters. I also liked the code code crackers'. Hazel, 7 years.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We learnt the Te Reo Maori names for many vegetables; We learnt about the life cycle of various plants; we painted pictures based on vegetables; we used a vegetable shop context for maths work on money.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will monitor the growth of our vegetable plants - links to science. Measuring the plants - maths.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We consolidated our understanding that it is important to eat a wide range of vegetables and why they are important for health.
My class of 5, 6 and 7 year olds loved being part of the Little Garden League. They particularly enjoyed cracking the codes which came through each week. We learnt about different vegetables, tried vegetables in baking and wrote stories with vegetables as characters. We will eventually plant our seedlings in a vegetable patch next to our classroom.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? All our tamariki learned about lots of new vegetables and how some of them are roots, like carrots, while lettuces are the leaves and we can eat some flowers too. Our class LOVED this kit! It arrived just as Spring started and so we were guaranteed good growth quickly. The HQ codes kept the mystery and 'clubhouse' vibe alive. Having the awesome resources to set up a clubhouse in our classroom was brilliant! Our Lady of the Snows school in Methven thought this kit was a very useful and positive way to get our younger tamariki introduced to new veges and take this home to share with their whanau. The kit was visually appealing, they enjoyed being part of a 'club' with a pledge and badge and with the addition of the card games which our tamariki love playing!
