In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Willing to try new veges and learn about ones they already like
The children were hooked right from the start. They were totally on board with being in a club and all wrote letters and passed their test. Badges were a real hit. Planting day was great excitement and easy to manage with a class. The plants grew very quickly and they have loved learning about different Veges. The codes were quite long for 5 year olds but manageable as a class.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have written reports about vegetables and even learned about vegetables during reading time. Science when creating recipes. Measurement when making recipes. Learning the Te Reo Maori names for the vegetables.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The options are endless. Growing and selling seedlings as part of business and marketing learning. Measuring the seedlings. Harvesting vegetables etc.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Every single child has tried all the vegetables I have offered. I especially loved it when 6 of my students had never eaten a corn fritter and loved them.
As a teacher I think that little garden has been an amazing resource to engage students with vegetables. It has created curiosity and interest in both growing and tasting vegetables. For three weeks we have made a different recipe that involves vegetables and students have even gone home and made vegetables for their families.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Science and inquiry learning - asking questions about living.non living and what living things needs, writing - living and non livinf comparisons, maths - counting days, measuring
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Healthy eating, school gardening club (we are having our turn next term and this fits well).
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are just starting the learning around healthy eating and trying new vegetables. The growing of the plants has been a fantastic way to introduce this.
Love having an interactive learning activity that is linked to real life. This also fitted perfectly with our learning around living things where we have investigated plants and learning they are alive and deciding if fruit and vegetables are then 'dead' when we eat them!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Some of the content was a little wordy for the 5 and 6 year olds and it needed a lot of teacher input to complete the letter to the garden league.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Maths measurement yet our plants have not yet grown tall enough to carry this out.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As in first comment above.
Thank you for the opportunity to try the little Garden league kit. It tied in beautifully with our term inquiry about being kaitiaki of our schools community garden. The children were keen to receive their own little plant to grow and enjoyed the wee badges. Itgot us talking about all the different types of vegetables and even the names of some edible flowers. We tried some borage nasturtium and calendula as a result. They were intrigued that they could eat some flowers. Just a little tip. The back of the badges broke off soon after the children received them. Perhaps a stronger metal clip or different design next time? Also despite the sepia photographs of all the 24 being made to look old and authentic, it was difficult fr the children to see them clearly. Thank you again for your generosity.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The crack the code was neat. My kids are only 5, but they used team work and worked with buddies to solve this. Helped promote co-operative learning and problem solving.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continue to care for their seedlings and try new vegetables. Next term I will look at doing creating some puzzles where the children have to make the vegetable. We will also move onto living/non living things.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have been learning about different vegetables, some of which the children hadn't heard of. It tied in really well with our school topic of looking after our community garden. Yesterday we harvested some leeks which the children got to take home and it
The children really enjoyed getting their little badges and becoming part of the Little Gardening League. This tied in really well with our junior school focus of being Kaitiaki of the Community Gardens. The children had to take responsibility for watering their seedling each day. Thanks so much for supplying the resources to help enhance the learning in our class.
