In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We went on to do experiments about plants and sunlight. We measured growth.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The interest has been sparked in the children about the how and why food grows. They have taken their learning home and it has created good home school links with parents sending resources for us to use in the class.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? All 25 children tried at least one new vegetable or fruit.

“Great selection I had enough for one each for my children. We used all of the resources and children brought seeds from home and took them to plant in their gardens. They really enjoyed tasting different fruit and vegetables.”

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did some story writing about favourite fruit and vegetables and looked at the life cycle of plants. Great links to science, literacy and maths as they watched the plants sprout and grow taller.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We envisage upon harvesting our little garden and trying new foods by next learning how to prepare salads and simple stir fry’s using our produce.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students could see the need for nurturing plants in order to get their healthy choices as an end result. They became aware of needing a variety of foods they hadn’t tried before and it made them look after their plants more carefully.

“This was such an awesome opportunity for my class of 5year olds to extend on our healthy eating program. Thank you so much for the resources! There was a great selection of plants, giving the students the chance to see the lifecycle in action and we hope to taste the products after harvesting next term”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Science and technology - how heat can change the structure of materials; seasons; planting seeds, plant cycle Language: Keeping a diary; Maths- sharing veges/fractions

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to build our own little garden outdoors in our Learning through Play area thanks to the kitset garden plot and potting mix that was delivered by New World ... thank you. So timely.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Was a really good motivation for trying new veges. They really bought into the pledge and being a member of a league. We made garlic brussel sprouts and and leek and onion with white sauce. Some of the parents posted vege recipes on our facebook page that

“Really good. Had difficulty keeping the names of the seeds in the wee pots, but it was really good that the tray was named as a second way of keeping track of their names.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My students are going to plant there special plants in or school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students have tried new verges. They bring carrot sticks to school.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to tie this kit into our measurement unit for maths as the students used it to measure the plants. As part of our inquiry unit we are also doing change so this worked into the change in season ";Spring"; and how plants grow.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? They students are excited to replant their plants - learning about this and watching them grow more so that they can try/eat their own plants.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students liked learning about new vegetables the hadn't heard of before and investigating them a bit further. Some of them were reluctant to try new things but most of them gave it a go
