How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used this kit during literacy and numeracy times in our class. Lots of predicting, measuring, observing, and describing. It gave many learning opportunities for inquiry, especially being able to relate back to our green gold enviro school status.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Being able to teach life skills of planting, growing and harvesting. How to look after things and treat them well.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Them being able to identify the good food choices that help their brains grow has become very evident in my room.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Maths- measuring, graphing, comparing, counting. Literacy- reading &; cracking codes, reading instructions, writing about the plants. Science- learning about what plants need to grow. Health- what our bodies need to grow.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Planting &; looking after the school vege garden. Cooking the produce from the garden. Healthy eating. Writing about veges using descriptive language.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children are starting to see where vegetables come from and are learning about the nutrients in vegetables and why they are good for you. They know it is important to try new things.

They were excited about getting a little garden and planting them. They learnt lots about how to take care of the plants and can't wait for the plants to grow so they can plant them in the garden.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We looked at other ways of caring for our self. We also created art around plants.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Caring for our body- water and exercise, cooking /recipes, farming and agriculture in NZ

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children are much more aware of the types of vegetables and how to grow and care for plants.

“The children were really motivated by the idea of joining a secret club. The codes to crack and badges which came with the plants were fantastic. The video clips and plant care aspect were very relatable and relevant for our children.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Digital curriculum - coding, really enjoyed Healthy eating, looking after plants, caring for living things. technology, folding of letter. Badge, broke easily, wasteful, talk around that. plastic etc.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Letter box can be used again, get recycling using box it came in. Sharing kai, healthy soil, time

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used this kit in an integrated unit about seeds.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are planting the seedlings in our school vegetable garden. This means that all tamariki will see the whole growing process and will get to nuture the plants until they are ready to harvest. Then we will eat!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has made them aware of where food comes from and that vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? lots. We are going to continue doing what we are doing but taking it further. Next term we are looking at technology and we will look at tech needed for a sustainable food source.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We were able to discuss healthy eating and what it looks like.
