In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Children have learnt about the planting process and the growing process. They have learnt that seedlings need water often and sun in order to grow.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Later in the year we will be planting our classes plot and this will help them with the planting process. What plants need to grow.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are more aware of the need for fruit and veg in their daily intake.

“With great anticipation, Matai waited and waited for the reveal date to arrive. They had seen the box and knew it was top secret. So imagine their joy when they finally got to see what was in the box. They thoroughly enjoyed the whole the kit. Cracking the code was a joint activity with our NE class. Planting was so messy, but such fun. Everyday they come and check their plants. They are talking about fruit and veg more and are interested in the planting process. My students are very keen to take them home and plant them in their own gardens at home, to continue the growing process.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to make links throughout the curriculum, reading about plants, writing instructions on how to plant a seed, vegetable artwork, and exploring the science of how seeds grow.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be looking at sustainability how to collect seeds for future use and cooking science.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students have learnt more about where their food comes from and are more willing to try new food and vegetables.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We've been learning about how light works so our students were able to link this with where the best placement for their plants would be. We also celebrated science week at our school and made links here.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We can move in to learning more about what makes a balanced diet and the healthy food pyramid (Health &;PE curriculum, technology links etc...). Some students diets were quite limited so this would be a great next step for future learning that will have a

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There were some veggies our students hadn't heard of so will be great when they've grown so they can give them a try.

“Our students were engaged and excited to see the Little Garden League return. They enjoyed the secret codes but found with the membership form they required support to fill it in. The prompt, detailed emails were a great support and kept us on track as we worked through the pieces in the kit. The online video links and resources were also helpful and interesting. Our seedlings are sprouting and are going to be transplanted into our school garden. School Kit's services and the kits they provide are a great addition to our school programme. Thanks.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of opportunities for talking, writing, reading about vegetables ,the little garden league in a meaningful context.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The possibiilty of growing on the seedlings in our own garden provided by New World will provide excellent on going learning in maths, science , literacy and health.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children are learning names of many new vegetables and beginning to talk about healthy eating.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Measurement - monitoring how much the plant grows in a week Healthy Eating - 5 plus a day Writing - Instructions on how to grow a plant

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are hoping to transplant our seedlings and create a school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The variety of vegetable and herb seedlings is great. Many children don't know what some of these vegetables are and so it is a great way for us to introduce them to the children.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit lends itself to science - we had just finished a unit about the water cycle so this followed on beautifully. It lends itself to developing our learning about hauora as well. The children love the stories, songs and we have even used Little Gardens

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have a veggie garden so this kit has encouraged the children to be more active there and with the school ENVIRO team... we need our children to be thinking sustainably and this was a great starter.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are already a rubbish free school but we are not a treat free school so this is making the children think about eating food that has grown not food that has been made.

“The children are loving being part of a secret club and cracking the codes! The plants have just started sprouting so the children will take one home each over the holidays and bring them back - hopefully they will be thriving! The plants will go in our school veggie patch.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Was great to incorporate maths and writing. We did a lot of whole class reading around it as well.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? different varities of plants and flowers. looked at different colours.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Through conversationn yes it has. However i wish we had more time for the plants to grow so that we could try these vegetables.

“All learners loved getting a badge and being a part of a special league. The codes to crack were awesome even for my 5 years old. They were able to complete this activity with little help. The learners also enjoy being able to plant and grow their own vegetables and flowers. They were invested in watering and every morning would check to what had grown.”
