I found the Little Garden school kit to be an amazing resource for our classroom learning. It was engaging, lots of fun and age appropriate activities and a very balanced learning program for the children. All of the activities were easy to use in the classroom and really well explained and resourced so that teachers were easily able to provide the learning experiences for the children.

In our class we had plant, insect, animal and habitat play-based learning provocations set up around the classroom for children to explore. We had math problems involving gardens and insects. We read many books about growing in plants, insects and our env

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Our class was doing Edible Gardens at the same time so this linked in really well. The students planted their vegetables into the school garden. Manuka also enjoyed making their own codes during writing time.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It is ongoing as the vegetables were planted in our school garden. The students are looking after this each week.

The students of Manuka loved the Little Garden. They were engaged and very enthusiastic to be responsible for their own garden. It was a great resource to introduce students to vegetables and herbs which they have never heard of before. We loved having the special code to crack as well. Over all it was an amazing resource. We had good discussions around what the different vegetables and herbs they were and how you would use them. There has been an increase in trying new foods.
This was an amazing resourse. The children really enjoyed watching the plants grow, measuring them, and comparing them with their classmates. Thank you so much School Kit for this amazing opportunity to teach children the importance of growing your own food.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit easily moves from literacy to science and technology and maths. A great practical resource to use at all age levels
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Science work - roots, germination. Maths - data analysis, grid work if mapping out planting in out school planter boxes &; scheduling to make sure there is always vegetables ready at different times.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It showed them how easy it was to grow your own vegetables and being able to care, look after them and see it happen in front of them.
This program is effective, practical and user friendly. It generates many opportunities for our children to be part of. It links into literacy, maths, sciences, technology and more I am sure! It encourages and promotes oral language to take place through rich authentic learning experiences.

My year 2 and 3 class absolutely loved this kit. From the anticipation when receiving the box to taking home their seedling that had sprouted. The kit was a great way to learn about healthy eating and sustainability. There were many opportunities for rich writing tasks. Children loved completing and posting their membership ballots and receiving their special badge.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The little garden project leads perfectly into cooking the vegetables.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? By growing the vegetables ourselves the students understood better where the food comes from. We examined the benefits of eating junk food compared to eating fresh vegetables.
My class loved the Little Garden. It has had side effects that I didn't expect such as three students encouraging their families to grow vegetables at home. It was a huge success with all the students, however it was more successful those students who learn better by being out doors and hands on activities.

We loved the Little Garden Kit. The secrecy built excitement and interest. The secret codes were fabulous and we even wrote our own secret codes using LGL symbols to another LGL class at another school. It led us to lots of learning in plants, growing and life cycles.
