How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Our school wide Inquiry focus at present is Environmental Sustainability. It was another way to show the students how we could be sustainable with our food.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Unfortunately due to weather conditions and circumstances our plants were not successful in reaching their full potential (to fully grow or to be eaten) but this has just sparked more interest in their ideas about how weather plays such an important part
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were excited about the possibility of eating vegetables and edible flowers. They were exposed to vegetables they had not heard of before.
This was a well put together resource that all students, at all levels were able to enjoy, experience and learn from.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? growing a school garden.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I didn't take the healthy eating/nutrition way. I used it more as of a tool of learning the difference between fruit vegetables and about plants.
It would be good to have a more structured unit to teach from as I found it very broad.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children have a healthy food snack at 10am every morning. The children were extremely engaged in all phases of the Little Garden Project. They were very excited about being members of the Little Garden Club and once they had planted their pots eagerly checked the progress of their plants each morning upon arriving at school.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? See review above.... maths and science
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? They all became very interested in plants in general, I had several leaves brought into the room to identify!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are aware of fruit and vegetable for healthy eating but they are 5!
I am a busy New Entrant teacher with x25 almost 5 and 5 year olds, so my feedback will be brief! I absolutely loved the entire idea and the way it worked. My littleies all planted and grew their very own seeds, they were desperate for the seedlings to sprout (so was I!)... running in to the classroom every day to check on their progress. I warned the parents the seedlings were coming home for the last holidays, their treasured seedlings all made it home. Students were super engaged on planting day and retained that engagement until they took them home. Growing seeds fitted with our science and measuring them fitted in with our maths!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit tied in nicely with our inquiry topic of life processes. Learning how things grow and survive and how we can help them to thrive. It was also great for maths and we compared the growth of the plants, measured them and graphed the results. There w
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We went on to look at how worms help the soil that the plants need to grow and look at our school worm farm.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids learnt a lot about vegetables and fruits. Most of them didn't know anything about herbs so it was great to have those included as well. We had a tasting afternoon and they discovered that if they were brave and just tried it most of them actually
This was an awesome kit. My y1/2 class were so excited to see what was in the box. The resources were high quality and everything you needed was provided. The kids were so pleased to be able to take their own plant home at the end and lots have kept me updated with how they are growing. Lots of them collected more seedling kits from our local New World when their parents were shopping.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The coding was a great example of a cross curricular activity. We have been learning Maori words for the parts of plants. We have been writing about plants and doing oral language activities around our plant topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be continuing to develop our school garden next year - so this topic will remain part of the teaching and learning programme for the new Year 4's.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students have become more aware of the variety of plants that they can eat and the parts of the plants they eat. When students cultivate their own crops (and later on add them to their cooking/baking) they are more likely to try new foods. This kit has al
As always the Little Garden plant pots are a great success with students. This term our topic is focused on our school garden, so the school kit has been particularly relevant. Students enjoyed completing and earning their badge as part of the the LGL. They are still proudly wearing the badges. Each day, the first thing they did upon entering the class was to check the plants - a very motivating topic.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used it as a health topic and a science topic with germination and growth cycle of a plant but beyond that it really didn’t lend itself to any other topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We talked about how the children could plant their own vegetable garden at home and they took their plant home with them before the holidays. We have a vegetable garden at school so now the children have a better understanding of what is happening as the
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It opened up the discussion of what vegetables children had tried and ones they hadn’t. We talked about how important it was to try new things and then decide whether we liked it or not.
I teach New Entrants (5 year olds) and they loved planting their seeds. It was a great learning topic for us as well. We learnt about what it took to make the plants grow and then we learnt about the stages a plant goes through when it is growing. The children loved watering the plants and then watching and looking for when the first signs of the plants coming through the soil. The only thing that created a challenge was the little signs that said what the name of the plant was became very soggy and ripped due to watering etc. I wonder if these could be made more durable.
