The children love that there is enough plants for them to have their own to plant and to look after.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We were already doing an inquiry into developing our own school food forest so it was perfect. We were able to integrate it across most curriculum areas and use this to celebrate learning.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This was an area we didn't do as well. We talked about the importance of growing vegetables and fruit, but the nutrition element was not as somewhat lacking in our teaching.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? As we had already done lots of work on growing this year, it was good to see students being able to be successful in identifying vegetables.
We really enjoyed this unit as we have been doing a year-long inquiry into creating our own food forest. The students were able to apply their knowledge to a new context. They loved being part of a club!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? 100%. It was a great way to talk about well-being, we had an opportunity to learn about some vegetable names in Maori. Literacy - instruction writing & recount writing.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? After the lesson, I could hear them talk about healthy & nutrisious food in their lunch boxes during morning tea and lunch times. I could see more children bringing in fruits and vegetables which was awesome.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We have a lot of ESOL children in our class so this was a good opportunity for them to learn about different vegetables. We also talked about different ways to eat them. It was a good way to introduce healthy eating and nutrition, too.
Children loved the activity and it was a good way to teach them about stewardship.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some.knew alot but others student had no idea what they look like as we always see in the supermarket
As part of our reduse reuse and recycle unit this has been a great addition to the classroom. Chidren enjoyed planting and watching different things grow.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This kit, lends itself to many curriculum areas. We have resulted healthy eating, science- how plants grow and the economic factors into why people grow their own fruit and vegetables- maths.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Most of the students have been willing to try some new vegetables. We are currently doing a social science unit around "Colourful Cultures" and the students have been bringing in food from their cultures which have included new vegetables for the students
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The students have become quite good at identifying the types of plants from their leaves. We are still growing the plants and haven't transferred them to the school gardens yet.
We love this kit, and the time of year is perfect to revisit healthy eating and sustainability.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Growing our own veges will definitely make students more willing to try them out. We'll plant our seedlings when they're a bit bigger in our school gardens.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There were a number of veges my students had never heard of, we'll keep working on this
My year 4 students loved planting their seeds and watching their progress each day. They are more motivated by the plants themselves and the physical act than by the idea of being in a club, which they didn't really understand. They totally learned about some new plants and will enjoy tasting them later in the year.
