How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Quite a bit. Especially the green leafy ones. They ca. now identify spinach from silverbeet. They also could only tell cauliflower from broccoli one the flower started to form. They learnt that they were flowers which made them laugh
This kit was one of the best we have learnt from. We also planted potatoes etc at the same time and just harvested them yesterday. We made potato salad. The kids loved it. Today boiled new potatoes and butter. Yum

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were keen to watch the veges grow and then try the vegetables. We measured their growth and then harvested when they were ready. We designed menus that included the vegetables that we were growing to reinforce children's knowledge of healthy eating.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A lot of these children had very little clue about vegetables. Having the characters for vegetables made it fun and also the games in the kit were a great tool.
The children absolutely loved this kit. They were very involved from the beginning and enjoyed being apart of the club (some kids are still wearing their badges). Our veges have had a growth spirt and we've tried some snow peas, carrots, lettuce, kale (not fans). We are eagerly waiting for the popcorn to be ready. The children have learnt about germination, how to pot and take responsibility for growing things. This was a very successful kit and we look forward to watching and eating some more vegetables.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Because we do 'lunches in schools' our tamarki are getting a much more balanced diet. They are also way more knowledgable about what they are eating. They are excited to see their gardens produce the food they are eating.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Huge learning through the game. Students sampled some of the vegetables/ herbs that they have never tasted before.
It was great. Tamariki were excited to plant their gardens and because we had some donated they were able to carry out some experiments using their first one as a control.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Not so much a willingness to try new vegetables, however we did discuss how the veggies can be used at home in the kitchen. Particularly pizza making. As the herbs could be included too. We had a look at veggie pizza recipes and talked about how home made
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? My class is Y5/6 so most knew most of the veggies but there was definitely some learning around the herbs - some had never seen corriander before as they'd only seen it dried in their pantry.
Great fun. My Y5/6 class were tasked to make sure their plant pots SURVIVED the term! They were individually responsible for helping their plants survive and thrive. A great learning angle for them.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most students already knew many vegetables but everyone learnt something new and they especially liked our blind taste test challenge.
The Little Garden League kit has been a very engaging kit for our students. They loved watching their seeds germinate. We used heat pads and grow lights for some of our seeds and were able to compare growing conditions.
