How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? I feel like there were some real benefits for our class relationships, and the whole kit linked perfectly with what our RTLB has been doing with our class during Circle Time.

“I thought this kit was wonderful! It was perfectly timed for completing after lockdown, it fit in really well with our school values and really encouraged positive behaviors towards each other. “This kit had lots of good ideas, but I felt it was much more suited to Years 5-6 rather than Juniors. MY children need simple words and activities, we made a happiness tree, talked and acted out being kind and caring. We used puppets, ,sharing circles and role plays to show respect. We had a kindness tree in class and encouraged the children to 'tell' when people were kind or showed respect to them. We enjoyed the links to all the books and”

“Some great activities around getting children to think about the feelings of others. Battery charging concept helped to support our bucket filling sessions. Was not able to get to the activity around playing with different children at break times - will move this to term three as the children are keen to do it.”

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? We had a class debate on the whānau question of was it better to have one friend or five friends. The kids split into two groups and shared their ideas before nominating a spokesperson to say their views. A big thing for year 1-3 kids.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? There was one boy who could hardly speak English and had little contact with other boys in the class. He is now responding and laughing with some of the other children who have accepted him into their groups

How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? Using the tokens for maths has been good as they are a different way of counting and making patterns. Children have to talk to each other about what sets they are creating and sort out the best way to share the tokens out.

We have read the stories and used the stickers. every day the children jump on the charging mat to recharge their batteries. Every day we fill in the big battery to show how many good choices we are making.

“It took me a we while to get my head around the format but once I did we were away. Kids and I loved having a common language to speak about our feelings. The acknowledgement of others feeling was also huge. A great lesson for this... Or any age!”

“The Kit had lovely resources which were enjoyed by the children while learning to be respectful towards each other. As a teacher I am very grateful to have these resources in order to make a difference my student's learning and development. The resources were both easy to understand and use by the myself as a teacher and by the children.”
