“Thank you, School Kit!! The Operation STEAM kit has brought so much fun and excitement to my classroom. My class worked with some tuakana from within our school and had so much fun working together to solve all the clues, riddles and problems. The children particularly enjoyed using code names and they continued to use them throughout the rest of the day.
They were all very impressed and wanted to know how the Purple Monkey was able to come up with these amazing things for them to figure out.
The writing that the children were able to produce afterwards was full of detail and that much more authentic - I could feel the excitement on the page.

“What an amazing kit!! I was a little worried because I have a Yr 2 class but I got a Yr 6 leader for each group who helped my children solve the puzzles. This worked extremely well. The children were very engaged and loved every minute of the day. They asked if they could do it all again on Monday as this was the best day of their year. When we had finished, one of the management team came in to see what they had been doing and the children were buzzing. They all wanted to tell her about what they had learnt today.
There were many new things that the children learnt today - circuits, cracking codes, reading writing in a mirror are just some of them.

“Thanks school kit for a fun and engaging stem challenge! We love stem challenges in room 19 and this was one of our favourites. We loved making the circuits and role playing as secret agents!
While we had heaps of fun, some of the instructions for teachers were confusing and hard to read and could have been made simpler.

It took a lot of setting up but was a great way to see the children working together trying to solve the codes. They had no idea how this activity would end and worked there way through it slowly.
