“This was an engaging activity where students were immersed in the learning. They were completing different measurement skills such as estimation, length, direction and weight. There love for mathematics in the past 2 weeks has grown greatly due to their love of learning in an authentic context.”
“Hi there, I think the Track the Tanker kit has been interesting for my class. We are still partway through it just because the kit arrived later than the start of term and we still have 2 weeks to go. The last 2 weeks we are really going to drum it home!
Angles and using a protractor is actually in Level 4 of the curriculum, so I have had to extend my students with this - I have had to teach them a lot about angles which is not really their 'needs' at Level 3 of the curriculum. So maybe this has kept me from making it a 5 star as it hasn't been easy.
I also find the huge amount of influence from other educators on the Facebook page off putting - some teachers have made assumptions about how it is meant to be taught and influenced conversations which has put me off.
I will maybe add more detail once I have finished the kit, had the Cow Olympics and really got into the nitty gritty. We have a very intense timetable at the moment. We have specialty music, science and art lessons which pull the students out of the classroom a lot! So I am dedicating some quality time then.”
