Hi Shannon,
Thank you for giving our Got Skunked Bundle a try! Our Skunk Odor Eliminator can be applied to bedding and clothing safely as a pretreatment when used as directed. We do not recommend using it on natural materials such as wool, silk, and leather. Please reach out with any additional questions; we're happy to help.
Kind Regards,
Susie
“I have been using your shampoo and deodorizers and I like them a lot. I bought the itch relief because my one dog was scratching a lot. I took my shampoo to my groomer and her bather forgot to use it and they. Used their product so I think that is why she was scratching. They bathed her this time with my shampoo and she is back to normal. I still use the itch relief because I want to give my dog the extra support. But to the main question I bought the skunk odor eliminator because I have a big area where my dogs run and I thought it would be good to have just in case they run into one of those little critters. Thanks for making great products. Sandra Reich”
“I was at work at almost 11pm Friday night when I received a frantic call from my husband that all 3 dogs had an encounter with a skunk. It took me about 15 minutes from that call to get home. I arrived home to see that he had let all the dogs into the house prior to my arrival. The house smelled like burning sulfur and kerosene. He put Kaileigh and Tucker in bathrooms, and tended to Tucker, but let Calvin loose in the house, thinking Calvin had been spared.
Turns out the exact opposite was true - Calvin took a direct hit to the left side of his face, chest and shoulder. While left free in the house, he did what any dog would do - he tried to rub it off of him on anything and EVERYTHING - both couches, area rugs, throws and pillows. Which we didn't realize until the next morning.
Never in my lifetime of owning pets have I ever had to deal with a skunking so we were not only unprepared, but over-burdened. We did the best we could with what we had on hand - peroxide, baking soda and dish soap (now my black Scotties look tie-dye) and then coated them in activated charcoal. Later we attempted to sleep (fortunately the bedroom had been spared for the most part) but after only 4 short hours, the smell was overpowering.
Saturday morning began the sniff test of all porous surfaces in the house, which somehow became my task. A coworker had a bottle of another product dropped off at our home, and we quickly went through that using it as a laundry additive.
I had to be to work at 11am. Upon arrival, I realized I had the skunk smell on my hands, and my cooler bag and purse also smelled horrible. There was a retailer nearby and I cleaned them out of the products they had. I applied the Skout's Honor to my hands, forearms and my two bags. Within minutes the smell was gone and never returned.
I worked a double on Sunday while my husband continued the laundry. Monday morning I realized the smell still lingered on quite a few pieces. I ran out to 3 more retailers and picked up nearly a gallon of Skout's Honor Skunk Odor Remover. The dogs got clipped ahead of schedule, and I used the Skout's Honor on them before giving them another bath to remove any residual skunk. It's completely gone, with the exception of what's in Calvin's eyebrow and lashes.
While not in the instructions, I did pour the Skout's Honor into a spray bottle and hit up everything that still lingered of skunk. I figured it was a last ditch effort before having to purchase all new furniture, so I had nothing to lose.
I'm elated to report that as of today, Tuesday, the smell of skunk is virtually non-existent in my home. I'm sure there are a few things I will have to touch up with spraying surfaces, but I'm okay with that.
We are looking forward to our delivery of the Got Skunked Kit so we will be prepared in the future.
Thank you Skout's Honor for your quality products, you've got a lifelong customer in me!”
“It worked!!!!! After a month of lingering skunk everywhere, it is finally gone. The collar and leashes especially. Hope it never happens again, but if so we are ready. Thank you”
