In 1759 Arthur Guinness signed a 9000-year lease on a Dublin brewery, and so began the life of this iconic beer. In 1799 he turned his focus to brewing porter, a black beer with roots in London at the time. Its popularity spread and they began to export Guinness across the globe and since then, Guinness breweries have been set up worldwide.
