Old J Rum is inspired by events of the mid-1700s when the strength of the rum rations for the British Navy was reduced and Admiral Edward Vernon suggested adding limes and sugar to the watered-down spirit to improve the taste. Old J was created later on to honour Vernon's crafty use of flavour. After more than sixty trials, the perfect bottle of Old J was born using their secret balance of sugar, spice, vanilla and of course lime. This blended base is used for many of their rum varieties, and here we have Admiral Vernon's Old J Tiki Fire. This spirit was created as a playful resistance to the reduced rations of the 1700s, with the same spices, sugar and limes as Old J original being used but with an increased ABV of 75.5%. This spirit is a real kicker, with the heat of its strong alcohol content really bringing out the flavour of the original Old J spices.
