“We have a 315mm cold saw which is the main saw used in the business however I wanted a second saw for smaller jobs that could be placed on a bench and taken to site occasionally. I have owned Evolution TCT saws in the past and did not get on with them for a number of reasons. (not accurate, blades wear out fast, and blade cost is high.)
I have now had the saw just over a month and I am very happy indeed with the performance. The vice is strong and it is accurate. The motor is powerful enough to cut through large and small sections alike and the blade supplied cuts well across a variety of wall thicknesses. It is light and portable and convenient both as a workshop saw and as a site saw. Some examples of live work the saw has done: 1) Cutting 127 x 76 steel beams - these are too large for the saw's specified capacity but I cut them from two sides and it did the job with ease. 2) Diameter 60mm x 4mm wall 304 stainless tube - cut at 90 degrees and mitred - dispatched with ease. 3) 12mm round bar, 30mm flat bar, 40mm MS box section, 50mm S box section, 75mm MS box section. All cut quickly, cleanly, square neat and accurate cuts. Can't ask for more than that.
Bits I don't like - some of the handles are a bit plasticky, the bar through the vice is secured with a plastic cap which fell off and rolled under a pile of steel, the auto/gravity feed takes a bit of getting used to (but works OK).
In summary: I wish I'd had one of these when I was starting out as it is a very good product that combines capacity (for its small size), power and that all-important accuracy. As a first / only saw for home-workshop hero's you'll find this hard to beat for the money. For a professional fabricator as a second saw or for site work it ticks the boxes. I can't say how it would manage if it was my only saw doing production work all day every day but it's not intended for that so it's not a fair measure.
Service from Stakesy's was fast and with good communication as always.
Overall - highly recommend this product and I imagine the larger saws in the range are equally capable.”
