“While lake Brienz is very pretty, the towns visited have very little to do, especially in the mornings. Brienz was the first stop and everything closed.
Plus because the lake level was low, so we had to ride a train to Brienz instead of getting on the boat Interlaken Ost. Everything was closed in Brienz except for a few stores. Had to kill two hours before the boat would be there. On the boat ride back to Interlaken, there was nothing to the towns or really just a dock for the boat.
If you were hiking perhaps it would suit your needs. But with the time between boats being at least two hours, and nothing to do at these stops, we were very disappointed. And again, we could not get off the boat at Interlaken, but just outside of town, then wait on a bus to take us back to Interlaken Ost.
We did not continue on to Lake Thune due to the disappointment of the stops on lake Brienz. Did not think the stops would be any better on Thune, except for maybe the town of Thune itself, and that was a couple of hours away, even after a train ride from Interlaken Ost to Interlaken West. Turned out to be a very expensive boat ride. We paid almost $ 70 US for an all day ticket, that ended up being approximately one hour on the boat from Brienz back to the dock just outside Interlaken.
We decided to go back to Lauterbrenen and spend the afternoon in that quaint area. Had just went through there on a train a few days before.
This activity was not what we expected.”
“Very beautiful trip from Interlaken to Thun.
The trip contains 2 hrs to get here and there(4hrs in total). You can stop and explore the city and back to your original destination on different boat(additional time included)
Recommended.”
“Whilst the boat trip was relaxing it wasn’t what we thought. We left Interlaken West expecting the trip would run full circle. It didn’t return to there and we had to buy train tickets to get back which was an added cost”
