“Monty is quite a frightened little bunny.....not because of her surroundings or where we live but because she was taken inside the house during a terrible thunderstorm as a kitten and saw the lightning as the storm was directly overhead. Fork lightning and hideously loud thunder and subsequent vibrations freak her out. Over the years I have tried many different things to try to calm her.....Bach flower remedies mixed into her drinking water, cuddling her during storms (rain, wind, thunderstorms etc), giving her places to hide......nothing really seemed to make a difference to her behaviour. I tried playing otherwise loud noises quietly to desensitise her to no affect. At the time there were a few companies who were working on a pheromone treatment for rabbits, but 9 years ago, to my knowledge there was nothing on the market. I was doing some surfing on the Hay Expert's website and came across this product. I thought I'd give it a try..... As a human.....you cannot smell the pheromone......but Monty can. Monty certainly started hiding less, and becoming more social until we were greeted with a weather front with gale force wind and driving rain. Monty slipped back into her comfort zone of hiding and barricading herself inside her lodge, using hay, straw, toys, loo roll and kitchen roll innards! They say to leave this switched on all the time.....and it lasts for 30days. Hmm, disappointed that it's not made much difference. Also, unit gets VERY hot. Don't feel comfortable leaving this unit unattended or switched on overnight. I am fully aware that there are ceramic blocks which have to heat up to allow the pheromone to permeate. Not for me. I'm not sure Monty is that impressed either!”
