“In these troubled times, anything which may just give your immune system a boost is worth a try I reckon.
Must admit that I hadn't heard of chlorella before, but after reading up on this algae-derived product's possible benefits to your immune system, eye health, digestive system, cholesterol and blood pressure, I was keen to put it to the test.
The tablets are quite small and easy to swallow and are vegan (an important factor for me).
The guaranteed strength and organic provenance is very reassuring too.
You can take up to 3 tablets a day, so your money buys you around three months' supply, which isn't too expensive I reckon.
Too early to say whether I have experienced any positive benefits, but I will report back in a month or so.”
“Chlorella and spirulina are 2 of the top supplements recommend for a keto diet (and Fibromyalgia), which I've been doing for 20 months. It's a diet that's immensely improved my compromised immune system and improved my fibromyalgia symptoms but a nasty bout of Covid in March and I'm still getting infections. It was time to add in lots more supplements and take these in individual form rather than just in my greens powder drink.
Chlorella is known for it's detoxing properties, binding heavy metals and flushing them out naturally. It's also great for boosting your immune system. A specific Korean study (published in Nutrition Journal) of 51 healthy adults, given 5g a day for eight weeks, had increased levels of immune proteins known to help defend against bacteria. It's an excellent source of antioxidants, thought to lower cholesterol and blood pressure and improve blood sugars. A therapeutic level is thought to be between 2 and 5g and these are 1g each with a suggested daily intake of 3 tablets.
I assume the rules for spotting quality Chlorella are similar to spirulina - dark green matt that doesn't have excess dust and a unique smell but not so overpowering you gag. I can confirm that my pictures don't do the colour justice! They are a deep green matt colour, not shiny and the dust is minimal and the smell isn't over powering. The seem to be excellent quality. They are also 100% chlorella from controlled organic farming, so no hidden nasties here! The dose is 3 daily but I'm taking 2 because I already drink a good quality organic greens power daily. That still gives me a minimal therapeutic level. If this is going to be your sole source then consider what you want it for and adjust your amount to suit you, if you take multiple supplements with it added then I wouldn't take the whole amount. At 3g a day it will last you 60 days so it's great value for a good brand. The recommendation for taking chlorella is daily for 3-4 months for detox value and some do that once a year whilst others continue to take it daily.
Only gripe I have is the label - people don't always realise it's a peel label with more detailed dosing inside. This doesn't state you should take it with adequate water and food on the front. These days there are so many different instructions depending on supplement that this would not be obvious. Lots need to be taken before food with a significant gap. It is important with all supplements to make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day too. However, I'm judging this on the quality of the ingredients not the label as I feel that would be unfair.”
