“The kit contains all that you need to fix the common problem (of intermittent starting) associated with the starter solenoid used on TD5 engines. The kit includes replacement copper contacts that erode away over time due to the arcing caused by switching the large inductive load presented by the starter motor. This is the second kit I have bought for my ageing Discovery. The first kit lasted 10 years and 80,000 miles so, for under £20 it's nothing short of a bargain - certainly a lot cheaper than replacing the starter motor assembly or getting a garage to fix the problem. If you're dexterous enough to be able to remove the starter motor from the car, the rest of the job is a walk in the park.”
