“I was very dissapointed with the quality & fitment of various parts of this bike. I am an avid bike rider with mountain and road bikes all of which i maintain myself. I am an engineer and also have 'advanced mechanical trade qualifications, so i am more than competent to assemble this bike.
1 - the steering plastic inserts cause a tight fit on the front forks, when assembled making the steering tight. - i had to use silicon (normal grease deterioates plastic and ruber) grease to make the operation smooth.
2. The front fork span is so far apart, they have to be compressed when trying to assemble the front wheel, so the wheel nuts will reach the axle thread.
3. Rear wheel - same as front, see item 2
4. Handlebars to fork assembly - poor design, leaving wobble in handle bars even when both bolts are tight. Tighening further will only squash the tubing.
5. Main complaint - the tyres on these wheels are absolute rubbish. They are super shinny and offer little grip. They offer zero grip on carpet when used indoors and the whole bike just slides out from underneath the child as they are trying to ride it and balance from side to side.
The same when on grassed surfaces, learning to balance in the park.
This has meant my child does not want to try to ride/balance etc.
Is she expected to learn this on concrete surfaces where the tyres will at least grip abit more !!!
I ask Zoomy to respond on these matters and personally, i would prefer a refund, prior to following this up with paypal and leaving on line reviews of my experience.
I have taken pictures i can send through, please measurements with my engineers vernier caliper on the wheel fitment problems.

Thanks for your detailed email and we're quite sorry to hear of your disappointment with our bike.
In regards to your comparison to a road or mountain bike, they're completely different markets. Our balance bikes are meant to be used on footpaths, and in playgrounds away from motorised vehicles. They will not be travelling at high speeds and they will only generally be used for a few years. Many will also be neglected and we also don't have any physical stores. We also wanted to keep the bikes at a price point where they're affordable for most Australians. With that in mind, we didn't want to sell anything that's going to be difficult to assemble or maintain. Simplicity is key.
Sorry that you feel the bike was difficult to assemble. We will take your points into consideration and see what we can do to fix this, but it's a difficult balance. You'll see from our reviews that many people find it quite easy to assemble the bike. Yes the forks may have to be bent a bit to insert the wheels but this is addressed by tightening the nuts to tighten the fork onto the wheel. We have not found any instances where this has caused any problems.
In regards to your comments about the tyres, this was a design choice. The other option was to go with inflatable tyres like on conventional bikes. There were two reasons we went with foam tyres. The first was to keep the bike light, inflatable tyres would have added 1kg to the weight which is considerable when the bike weights 2kg to begin with. And the second was to minimise any required maintenance.
