Dear Team Member:
Last night I was trying to purchase a rear axle for my car and I received a call from one of your merchants offering the product I requested. I said that I was interested, but I would call back in a few minutes to provide payment information. After about 15 minutes I called back to provide my credit card information, but at the end of the call I was informed that the rear axle I ordered could not be delivered to the garage which would install the rear axle unless I provide a scanned copy of my driving license and credit card. I asked the e-mail address to which I should send the scanned copy to and the merchant provided the following e-mail address: qarlrms@live.co.uk
I was starting to get a bit suspicious. After scanning everything I thought it was better not to proceed with the purchase as I have no idea to who I was talking to. I called back the merchant to tell I would like to cancel the order. The person on the phone was not happy about it and was very reluctant to cancel the order. At first he said he could not cancel because I already gave the credit card number. Then he explained that people had conned them in the past and they had to protect themselves. I understand that, but I don't want to give my credit card information and all the sensitive information printed in my driving license (mothers maiden name, birthday, address, complete name, driving license number etc). I told him that I would refuse delivery and call my credit card to cancel the transaction if he decide to insist putting the order through after I asked to cancel it. Then he agreed to cancel the order.
My only concern now is whether the order was really cancelled as I have not received any e-mail or SMS confirming its cancellation. After I hung up I called another merchant that accepted to deliver the axle at the garage that will perform the installation.
My quote reference is DB816902 and the code for the merchant that asked me to scan the credit card and driving license was SR2505 and their phone number is 0703 471 4374.
