My wife and I travelled to China on a visa provided by 5 Star China Travel. Getting the visa was straight forward and we had no issues. At Heathrow, the check-in staff weren't familar with type of visa so we had to wait whilst they checked it out. When we arrived at Beijing, we didn't realise that we needed to have a copy of the visa for the immigration team to keep.
However, it was cheaper to do it this way and it meant I didn't have to send my passport away. I would recommend.
