I was interested in the AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard, as many of the online review sites recommended Barclay very highly.
SO, I go online and research, everything looks good. I called customer service and that's where things fell apart. The first customer service rep barely understood/spoke English, and became miffed when I asked to speak with a native English speaker - she disconnected/hung-up the phone right when I was in mid sentence. I called back. Got another non native English speaker. I asked to be put through to a supervisor and then waited for well over 10 minutes with no-one answering my call. In frustration, I simply hung up and began looking for reviews and complaints about Barclay online. That's when I found this and other sites with NOTHING positive to say about Barclay.
To me, these are red flags. Also the reviews all over the web saying that Barclay has slashed their credit worthiness without provocation are huge red flags as well. I'm going to steer clear of this hot mess and stick with American Express.
