I have had a negative experience with the Upromise World Mastercard, particularly with their customer service and how they treat loyal customers like me. I have never made a late payment. However, I encountered an issue with a vendor, New York Sports Club (NYSC), where I canceled my membership in June 2024. Despite this, I was charged again in September 2024, based on false information claiming I visited another location. I disputed the charge, and although I followed Barclay’s instructions to send proof via fax, they did not respond until I followed up with a call.
NYSC issued a receipt stating the membership was closed at the end of September 2024, which they used as an excuse to justify the September charge, even though I never visited any of their locations. We had a three-way phone conversation to address the matter, but today, I received a letter from Barclay threatening to report me to four consumer reporting agencies if I don’t pay the disputed amount. I am still working on resolving this with NYSC, but Barclay’s handling of this situation is unacceptable. I plan to resolve the issue and close my account, as they failed to protect a customer from fraudulent vendor actions.
