I give checkatrade 1 star. Reason. I had a tenant with a blocked drain. It was an open gully at the back of the house. I phoned a recommend plumbing company. Which turned out to be a call centre sending a subcontractor. The person turned up and messed around for 15 min. Then told the tenant that it needed £1500 of drainage work as the drain had collapsed. Tenant refused to authorise the work. I found I had a been debited £240 despite being told it would be £70 as they claimed to have used camera inspection. So I phone a local plumber who charged £70 and used rods to clear it in 6min ! Total time on site min. I gave the first company a terrible review saying they were con artists, when they refused my demand to return my money. They agreed but only if I removed the poor review, in other words blackmailing me. Which I did. I then contacted Checkatrader to complain about being blackmailed and asking them to look into this company and its 5 star reviews. They said that there was little they could do !!! Do not trust the reviews on checkatrader especially for the national call centre emergency firms.
