“Checkatrade offered a free upgrade when I called to close my account, on the grounds they were to call before my renewal to see how things were improving however I heard nothing I still had minimum leads that didn’t even cover the membership then renewed without checking in. I’m now stuck in a membership for another 12 months. Over all Checkatrade used to be amazing and now they’ve over populated the site no matter how great your reviews and ratings they can only offer minimum leads “ to be fair”. Meaning newcomers get the same amount of work as you who had been there for 6+ years”

“As a business it is simply not what it once was... It was about building your reputation and in getting good customer feedback - you good rep would then help people find you based on their location and in the services that you provide. Now Checkatrade is a money-making machine where they will sign up as many businesses as poss to make a load of money but as a business you just don't get seem even if you have the best reputation in what you do...”

“Can be useful to find contractors but they have a terrible complaints process. I used a contractor, A S Force Construction that didnt finish the job completely (re-plastering wall paper) and then ceased all contact with me without providing an invoice, even though I asked several times, they just ignored my calls and messages. I informed check a trade, left a review for this company and their "investigation" amounted to speaking to the company, who lied that they've never heard of me. So check a trade took their word for it, deleted my review and closed the case as concluded, without doing any proper investigating.”

“This is a scheme designed to maximize their profits. Initially, I declined the membership, but they kept calling me for weeks to convince me to join. When I finally signed up, within just a few days, I received three calls pressuring me to pay an additional £500 per month for advertising. They also tried multiple times to get more money from me to place my business on Google Maps—something I can do myself if I choose. No real jobs were provided—only fake leads. In fact, they unknowingly gave me the same job twice, simply changing the customer’s name and postcode. After 5-6 days, they sent me all the leads for the month, but none of them were worthwhile—just small, low-value jobs, barely enough to cover the cost of the membership. I requested to cancel my membership within the 14-day cancellation period, but they refused. They hold onto your money because that’s how they profit. The larger, real jobs are passed on to companies that pay thousands per month or to teams that have insider connections. Meanwhile, new traders are misled with the promise of “building their image,” but in reality, they are just being used. Avoid this at all costs. Run, and don’t fall for their false promises—unless you’re willing to pay for years, taking low-paying jobs that cost you more than you earn, just for the illusion of building your reputation.”

“Checkatrade do not check the companies they allow to advertise on there website. Despite stating that they always check companies before allowing them to join clearly they don't. I am listed as the owner of Amiga Fire and Security on checkatrade yet I have never owned this company. I have not even worked for this company so how could they get this wrong if they truely check the companies before allowing them to pay how comes the information is wrong. They also have the wrong vat number showing. I have requested they change these misleading issues several times using their complaints procedure yet the information is still wrong months later.”

“They wont let me cancel my membership. They charge an absolute fortune for leads that often go nowhere. They dont check trades ( not mine anyway) and on too of all this , if i cancel my direct debit to them i will face court action.”

“Stay clear as this has been the biggest nightmare of my life. They trick you into investing with all their lies and tactics. They are not a real company and have no address as the FCA warned me they are a scam. I tried to close my account and withdraw when I had over €445k but they continued to make excuses not to give me my money. The platform is fake your money does not go in the market they steal your money through opening a cointandem account and buy bitcoins with your money into different bitcoin wallet addresses. The company credit is fake, the bank details are not theirs it’s cointandems. They knew I had a daughter and I was unwell and they continued to gaslight me. Adi Reed who worked with them got close to me and told me it was a scam and introduced me to TheresachinRecovery INC he told me they're the best team to help me as they've given them a lot of problems lately by helping most victims in breaking their severs successfully, TheresachinRecovery INC passed excellently cause they did exactly what I was told they're capable of.
