After contacting Grant Todd about renovating 2 bathrooms I got no reply using email . A week later I phoned up Grant and he told me he had told Checkatrade he was not interested . I have waited several days and have had NO response .

Al Dean - Property Maintenance was recommended by Checkatrade last year and Al and an employee arrived in early November to start a garden job for us.They finished the work in about 5 hours and we payed Al by cheque. We asked him to return to do some other work and he examined the requirements and agreed, leaving his business card. A few days later he rang to say our cheque had bounced ! I immediately rang my bank; they apologized for their error and immediately righted it. I emailed these facts to Al Dean (alanrdean@hotmail.com) and he rang the next day to acknowledge both reception of his fee and our swift action in remedying our bank's error. He added that he would ring us ASAP about his availability for the remaining agreed work. Since then we have had no contact from him despite our leaving phone messages and emails (including a request for his formal cancellation of the agreed work so we may look elsewhere). Does Checkatrade continue to recommend this company?

Contacted Checkatrade re gas service engineer and chose PL Dodd in Burslem Stoke on Trent. He serviced boiler but needed to complete the job by fitting a faulty switch. Said he would return to complete the job but after several promptly over two weeks and no sign of him, I cancelled him. Why do checkatrade not check up with people that contact them to see if job ,trades person was satisfactory. Leaving the public open to poor workmanship is not a good recommendation.

We used a guttering firm from check a trade in February and have had severe problems since. He wanted us to pay again before rectifying the job. We have had a second option and the guttering is wrong also broken and bee n screwed from the bottom instead of the side.
