If you feel you don't get enough time sitting in your car for hours upon end on a layby then the RAC are the boys for you. They'll also send you a lovely message every thirty minutes explaining they have no time frame for you 👌
If on the other hand you don't like waiting 5hrs plus hours with no ETA or real communication I would strongly recommend the AA. Another car broke down next to mine after me, and the AA not only tried to repair the car but when unable to called a second vehicle and towed it all with 90minutes.
