If you have an RAC membership—get another one.
If you don’t have an RAC membership, don’t bother getting one.
I once tried to book a breakdown service due to a yellow warning light and was told it wasn’t urgent, so they wouldn’t send an engineer. When I later attempted to book assistance for an actual breakdown, I waited 5–6 hours only to be told to wait until the next day—without any guarantee they’d come.
The customer service was extremely rude, and I was repeatedly transferred from one agent to another just to avoid answering my questions. Absolutely appalling service. I ended up paying another well-known provider to assist me instead.
Meanwhile , I was advised, “Do not drive the car if you think it could cause more damage.”
Hello? I’m not a mechanic! If I knew what was wrong with the car, I wouldn’t need to request breakdown assistance in the first place!
I would never recommend RAC. There are plenty of other providers—choose wisely.
P.S. RAC’s customer service rating is only 1.4.
