In May 2025 I bought the £99 RAC Diagnostics offer, which advertised that their mechanic would spend 90 minutes performing 40+ tests on my car, produce a report of any faults found, and explain repairs required.
My 19-year-old car had been off-road since July 2024 when I had an accident and lost my driving licence due to a medical condition. I was expecting the DVLA to return my driving licence to me within the next couple of months.
I was concerned that leaving my old car standing stationary for most of a year might have caused it severe damage. I didn't know whether it would be worth getting it back on the road and through its MOT once I could legally drive again. So the RAC Diagnostics offer sounded ideal.
However, all their mechanic did was essentially inform me that my car battery was dead — which I already knew. They charged me £99 for this. I submitted a complaint to customer service. They rang me five and a half weeks later, twisted my words, and closed the case.
