Complaint Title:
Misleading Ticket Sale – Wrong Artist Image Used in Event Listing
Complaint Description:
I purchased 4 tickets for a total of $213.41 for an event in Sacramento on June 15, 2025, advertised as a performance by Alok, the well-known Brazilian DJ. The ticket was sold via StubHub, and the image shown on Google (connected to the StubHub event link) was that of the DJ Alok.
However, after completing the purchase and reviewing the event details, I discovered that the show is actually by Alok Vaid-Menon, a comedian. Although the names are similar, these are two completely different artists, and using the DJ’s image in connection with the event link is false and misleading advertising.
I contacted StubHub support, who acknowledged that the transaction was processed correctly in their system but refused to cancel the order or issue a refund, only offering to help me resell the tickets.
This violates California consumer protection laws, including California Business and Professions Code §22507 and regulations regarding deceptive trade practices. I was misled into making the purchase due to incorrect promotional material.
I am requesting:
Immediate cancellation of the order
Full refund of the purchase amount
An investigation into the use of misleading artist imagery in online listings
If this issue is not resolved, I am prepared to file formal complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and other appropriate consumer protection agencies.
