I just had one of the worst buying experiences of my life on StubHub—and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I was excited to grab Bruno Mars tickets and clicked on what was labeled an “Amazing Deal” for $292 per ticket. What wasn’t obvious? The $67 per ticket in hidden fees that didn’t show up until the very last screen, after I entered my info and was on a countdown timer to complete the purchase. By the time I saw the full price—over $700 total—I was too far in, emotionally committed, and under pressure to finish before time ran out. That’s not excitement, that’s manipulation. This is a textbook bait-and-switch tactic dressed up in bright colors and fake urgency. I called StubHub within minutes of realizing the mistake, only to be told: “All sales are final.” My only option? Release the tickets back to StubHub to resell them on my behalf, with no guarantee I’ll ever see my money again. American Express couldn’t help either—StubHub has made themselves dispute-proof by design. Their entire platform is built around hiding true costs, tricking buyers into impulsive decisions, and avoiding accountability. It might be legal, but it’s borderline criminal in how it treats customers. If you value transparency, fairness, or your money, stay far away from StubHub. I’ve learned my lesson the hard way—and this company will never get another dollar from me.
