My experience with Ackroyd Legal has been deeply unsatisfactory, shocking and has left me financially and emotionally exposed. Professional Failings: No retention was arranged for building insurance, despite this being a foreseeable issue. I was also provided with an outdated insurance quote, while the actual premium was nearly 40% higher. I only discovered this after moving in, in front of other residents. Complaint Handling: I raised this matter repeatedly from May 2025. When I lodged a formal complaint on 29 August, the firm promised a full response within 14 days. They failed to meet their own deadline, and when a response was eventually provided, it was late, dismissive, and ignored the direct questions I had raised. Impact: I am still being chased for payment of the increased insurance premium (dating back to October 2024 when I was not the owner), which has placed me under ongoing pressure from the building management and their solicitors. The stress, anxiety, and uncertainty caused by the firm’s inaction has been significant. In short, the firm has failed to act with competence, transparency, or urgency. I have lost trust in their ability to manage the matter and will now be escalating to the Legal Ombudsman. Save your money and stress, go elsewhere.
