I spent 13 days on a safari through Kenya and Tanzania, which was organized through African Overland Tours and conducted by Drifters. First, the information and support provided by Reshma Deva of African Overland Tours was invaluable in making this trip an excellent experience. She was very patient with the many questions that I had leading up to the safari and dealt with any issues in a timely and professional manner. She gave me very useful advice regarding which items I should bring in order to make the trip more enjoyable. I highly recommend her in helping to choose a safari that fits the needs and budget of any traveler. I had two Drifters drivers/guides on this trip. The first was Wilson, who drove me through the Kenyan leg of the journey. He was friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable regarding the animals that we encountered, including lesser known birds and smaller animals, along with the more well-known animals, like elephants, giraffes and lions. He also had a good knowledge of the history of Kenya and some of the cities we drove through. He provided advice on customs and how I should bargain for any goods that I wanted to buy along the way. He provided excellent service and I highly recommend him. The second Drifters driver was Magut (I apologize if I've spelt his name incorrectly), drove me through the Tanzanian leg of the safari. He was very friendly and courteous. Even though we encountered a mechanical issue with the truck, he managed to get the problem fixed and we were able to partake in all of the scheduled activities. He was also knowledgeable regarding all the animals we saw and the places we visited. I highly recommend him as a guide and driver. I was fortunate in that I was the only person who was registered for this trip, so even though it was a supposed to be a group trip, Drifters followed through and provided exactly what was promised on the trip. I chose the single-room option and all of the accommodations were very good to excellent in terms of cleanliness, service and comfort. The food provided for meals was very good quality, too.
