I bought two projector screens from Amazon, one of which was wobbly and insecure, so I requested a refund.
I called Amazon to inquire about the return process. They instructed me to ship the screens to their return address and assured me they would refund the shipping cost. The boxes were quite large, resulting in extra-large shipment fees from every shipping company. I called Amazon again and explained that the shipping would cost considerably more than $100 per box. An agent confidently stated that I should pay the amount, and they would refund it. I did so and provided payment receipts totaling $276.24 for both boxes.
Several weeks later, I only received a refund for the price of the items, not the shipping charges. I called Amazon again, and after a lengthy 30-minute conversation, they only agreed to refund $150. As a reasonable person, I suggested accepting a gift card as a resolution, but they refused to honor their initial promise. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was apparently not considered an important customer, as they simply hung up.
