Amazon’s customer service has deteriorated badly over the last few years. I have been a customer for over 13 years and will now only use them if I’m absolutely desperate. I ordered. Sat nav, from the Warehouse, so new it may have scratches etc. After initialisation I started updating it as it was well out of date for updates. 5 hours later I find it doesn’t do what I wanted as it was the wrong model. It did not have all the packaging, so fair enough. Return initiated and the service was exemplary at this point, except instead of just shipping a replacement you have to return and re-order. Done just that, so have now paid twice, item arrives and again it’s the wrong model, no excuse this time, clearly states it on the packaging. What should happen is that you get a refund once you hand it to their courier. But no, you have to wait until they receive it. The second item was received by them the day after posting, the original is doing a tour of the UK. Not my problem, it’s their chosen courier, so they should refund. I have money tied up which comes to more than the cost of buying it new and Amazon couldn’t care less. I’m left with one option after having previously complaints the CEO and that is to avoid using them. I have cancelled my Prime and Music subscription when it could have easily been sorted by sending the correct replacement and collecting the other at the same time, but customer service is no longer at the fore of Amazon’s business ethic!
