I had an item delivered which was damaged - although I got no response from the retailer when I emailed them, I requested a return through Amazon and it was dealt with very quickly.
Would be nice if more retailers offered free delivery instead of having to spend £20 minimum (as a lot of retailers on EBay are free delivery) but overall it's a good service.
What I like about Amazon over EBay is the customer reviews section which is always helpful.
