When I first contacted this company on line, a chat box came up.I asked if they were American based as I've had problems with overseas company in the past. The writer said yes. I chatted with someone on the phone who was obviously not American who said he worked there and was based in Fremont, California. I gave them my charge card to pay for some work. Upon having my account charged, a "project manager" called me who was also obviously not American. When I asked him where he was from he said "New Mexico." I said I was was told they are American based. The address they gave, when I checked on Google maps, was a storage unit in Fremont. I also checked some of the glowing 5 star reviews on which I originally depended. All the reviewers names I checked had no presence on Amazon.com nor Amazon.co.UK. The flashy website promises full refunds if not satisfied. Not being satisfied because I feel they misrepresented themselves, I asked for a chargeback on my card. I spoke to another person who said he would take care of it right away. He didn't. I called the next week and he said there was a delay, but I should be receiving the charge back within a day or two. Didn't happen. Ten days go by and I call again. The fellow said there was another delay, but I should receive the cancellation in another 10 days. He added he would send me an email immediately confirming that. The email never came. I called a different number on the American Book Writers website and I spoke with another individual who never heard of me. The address was in Virginia, another storage unit. He said he was in Wyoming. "We have many offices in various locations." Storage units I presume. In retrospect, this company offers no qualifications other than they are "experts" and a litany of 5 star reviews that I doubt. The website shows numerous New York Times best sellers which unlikely have anything to do with them. So as of now, I don't have any refund, they have been deceptive and evasive about who they are and where they are located. As I test, I asked what the time is in California where he said he was located. After hemming and hawing for a few moments, he came up and hour off. So now I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, The Federal Trade Commission, my state consumer protection agency, and any other site that promotes this business.
