Do not go near Anglian Windows. I had a site from their representative on 19 January. The visit lasted almost three hours. More than half the time was spent on the company's history and accolades. It was extremely difficult to nudge her into talking about the windows. It really felt like attending a time-share presentation. When we moved on to the windows, it was very clear to me that the sales representative understood very little about the mechanics and what might work for each window space (eg whether we could have cord and weight or spring-balance sashes, or double-swing mechanisms). At the end of the conversation, she still had not understood that we wanted timber frames rather than UPVC, despite my repetition of this from the start. There was endless reference to the 'prestige' windows offered by Anglian, but no flexibility in their designs and finishes. ('Prestige, maybe, but not bespoke.) The price started at £62,000. When the rep saw the reaction from my husband and me, she quickly found 'discounts' (mostly involving free advertising for Anglian) that magically brought the price down to £43,000. I was also told that prices were set to rise in two days time. Unsurprisingly, I decided not to proceed with Anglian Windows for my window replacement. I found a company whose owner has been able to give me all the information and reassurances I need, including a lengthy visit to the company manufacturing the windows, and custom-made replacements for some bay window sections to retain as far as possible, their original look. All for a considerably lower price than Anglians (even with the 'discounts'). Since then, I have had five texts from Anglian, despite replying 'stop' to each one and attempting to block the number. They seem simply to use another number - often the sign of a disreputable company. Anglian then phoned me, about two weeks ago. I told the representative very clearly that I had chosen another company to install my windows, and even provided the name of that company. He sniffily told me, 'I've never heard of them', but agreed to remove my details from Anglian's data list. This morning, I received another telephone call from Anglian pressing me for information about my intentions. To try to get them off my back, I have been forced to write to them instructing them to remove my data from their records and threatening them with the Information Commissioner if they don't comply. In summary: Based on my experience, Anglian will require a site visit of several hours, most of which will be spent talking about the company rather than your windows. (We managed to reduce it slightly by refusing to watch the video about the company.) Their representative is a sales person who knows little about the details of which windows are appropriate. There will be very little flexibility in styles or finishes. The price will be sky-high, but will magically come down by about a third if you don't accept it immediately, although you will be warned of pending increases in their prices. Finally, even after you have confirmed that you don't want to proceed with them, they will continue to hound you with texts and phone calls. (Like The Terminator, they will not stop until you are dead!) Look elsewhere for your new windows.
